“What in the-?” Ciathali frowned as she bundled into the Forerider, peering at Halon’s exertions. “Ah. Well, very efficiently done I’m sure. However we have a top-of-the-line medbay not thirty seconds drive away, so perhaps we could forestall any further self-administered first aid until then? You're not in any danger of expiring until then.”
Rahi winced at the sound of Halon’s limb popping, and looked rather grateful once the ATV’s hatch had closed and the vehicle accelerated off towards the waiting frigate.
“Fifteen minutes ma’am,” she replied promptly to Nyxeya. “They’re retracing ground they’ve already mapped on the first run, so they’re moving faster.” She switched to the feed from the heavy drone. “No other activity so far.” She looked sidelong at her commander. “Do you think there was a leak at HQ about our mission? For an ‘abandoned’ facility we’ve run into a lot of company out here...”

Vorano watched Halon quietly from his seat as the human set to trying to pop his own joint back into its proper place, the wet pop of it realigning making his eye twitch. He was tempted to remove his helmet now that they were out of 'danger', but thought better of it. He'd keep it on until they reached the ship. "So, who did the shuttle belong to? Who or what was inside when the ship picked it up?"

halon moved his arms to try and scoot his way over to a part of the interior to lay against, once he had, he lay his arms on his lap and closed his eyes, drowning out any noise for a tad bit to get a bit of rest. his breathing began to slow and heart calmed down in beats. *that's better* he said in his head. thoughts to himself. *maybe i can just..lay here a while, and then-"head..home" he slipped out unconsciously. *audible whisper* "maybe, head back to the citadel. and see my daughter.....and my wife...take them out as a gift for being home so late...... i... i cant face them, not like that........don't make kill them........I!!.." halon's heart began to pump faster and his breathing erratically increased. "stop!!!....get it away!" his fist began to tighten as he coughed up blood slouching over, "no.....it's...its alright now..........." he whispered before his suits UI kicked in. "heart rate BZZZZZZTTT dropping BBZZZZT vitals critical, applying medi gel....." a small hissing noise came from the suit. "medi gel capacity empty, oops" there was a slight pause. "vitals normal BBBZZZT recommend. immediate care"

“A turian and a human,” Ciathali replied to Vorano. “I don’t know much more, Ela was talking to- oh for the love of the Goddess,” she swore, checking on Halon and making rapid adjustments to what remained of his damaged suit’s life support system. “Can you hear me in there? I’m connecting your suit to a medi-gel dispenser, but your med-VI is in poor shape. We’ll be back in the ship-” She broke off as the Forerider lurched slightly, going up a ramp. “-oh, timing. Now, in fact. I’m moving you immediately to our medbay, and I may have to sedate you for surgery. Do you understand? Aesin,” she went on, communicating with her crew, “bring the medbay floor down, we’ll be going straight from the ATV into surgery, thank you.”
She gave Halon’s vitals a check, and huffed a sigh, seeing them somewhat stabilising again.
“I do hope this isn’t typical of human medical technology,” she muttered to the krogan. “His suit’s being impossible. You two,” she nodded to Pennant as well, “help me get him to medbay.” She cast Lysia a quick glance, ensuring she would stay close and keep an eye on the geth, then as the Forerider’s hatch opened, went to work.

Meanwhile the Mechs were slowly but steadily arriving in the hangar bay with the boxes.
"All right, that must be all of them and still none damaged." Nyx said, satisfied. "Now we need to get the Forerider back. I want out of this place now."

Vorano took Halon by the legs while Pennant took Halon's shoulders, and the two of them held him aloft as he was carried to a surgery unit. With the human in the hands of the Vanguard's skilled medics, he took himself to the side, where he would be out of the way of the doctor and began pulling his weathered and combat worn armor off a piece at a time, setting each piece down reverently on an examination table. Once the plates from the waist up had been removed, he opened the under suit slipped his arms out, uncovering the heavily scarred figure.
From the neck down, the Krogan had no less than a dozen scars from bullets that had pierced his armor, most stitched across his stomach. He had multiple deep scars across his chest and arms from a variety of bladed weapons, some of which were fresher than others. The worst of all was a large patch of ugly scar tissue that covered his side and back, with scoring in the plates all the way to the top of his hump. It obviously extended further below to his legs, and it was clear that it had been caused by strong acids, though one would need to ask to figure out how it happened. The bullet in his side had struck this patch of scar tissue just below his ribs, and as the Krogan had stated when Halon pointed it out, he could feel nothing in that region. Still, his fingers roved over where the medigel had sealed the still-open wound, the impressive healing abilities of his race seemingly absent.

Halons helemt drowned out any kind of noise preventing him from hearing them, the static was to loud, as it began to clear the suit's VI popped up. "medical care needed, deactivating VI to preserve power, it said shutting off. Halon spoke "sorry about the mess" he mumbled audibly, "didnt mean to bump into you all".
The human pilot sat next to the turian, eyes closed and with a calm attitude. "this sucks" said the turian who continued to pace back and forth. "calm down, no reason to gr-" suddenly a small little *bloop* came from the pilots wrist comm, the turian came over as he looked down to activate it. as a small screen popped up, Halons name appeared on the white hologram not to far from where they were. "they found him!?" Yelled the turian into the humans ear. "yes, but he seems to be in bad shape. Either his suit is screwed up or im just getting a bad signal." "we need to get to him, now!" Barked the turian.
(friends where are my human and turian? Were they put in a brig with a guard?)

“Vanguard, we’re ready to go here,” Rahi signalled, then a pause. “Oh, you did? Good thinking, okay send it out. They collected the cargo hauler from the main entrance, Ela’s sending it out on remote.” She grimaced faintly. “The human, uh, bled in the Forerider a bit. Cia’s looking after him.”
”And you get yourself up there, too, will you?” Saphne’s voice sounded over the comms, a mix of exasperated and worried.
“Uh, on our way.” Rahi blushed, and gave Nyxeya a bashful grin. “She’s protective...” She looked away, watching the LOKIs patiently loading their crates aboard the hauler, then stepping onto its running boards themselves and folding up into their compact storage mode.
"That's a wrap, ma'am."
~~~
“I’ve seen plenty worse messes,” Ciathali said absently as she worked. She cast the occasional glance back at Vorano, but seeing him in no immediate danger despite his wound, she concentrated on her first patient.
Down in the cargo bay, Tahlia took note of the suddenly raised voices from within the shuttle, which with a forcefield fixed over its hatch was serving as an impromptu brig.
“Cool you jets!” she called out, rapping a gloved hand against the shuttle’s hull. “Your pal’s being patched up. And Cia’ll shove a singularity up you if you go charging into her medbay, anyway.”
((Sorry this took so long folks - the shop's still a mess, my browsing PC hasn't been put back together, and I haven't had time to put any of my Samara posters back up yet...)) ((Halon: The ship doesn't have a brig - it's only Normandy-1 sized - so I figured they'd just keep their 'guests' in the shuttle; without power it's as good an enclosure as any. Tahlia's standing guard, the cargo bay is her domain.))
Nyxeya watched as the mechs loaded up and folded themselves neatly into a corner. Of course with all the cargo, any remaining traces of blood would be covered. The commando squeezed herself in to the cabin.
"Alright, hit the switch and off we go." she ordered Rahi.
"what makes you think i wont blow a hole in this damn ship?" replied the turian hostilely. the pilot looked to her a bit surprised, "you don't have to get so mean" he said looking to the door, "ma'am if we are able, may we go and see him?" he asked crossing his arms as the turian continued to give off a bad vibe. the turian however had her hands on her helmet, it looked as though the turian was upset. "I'm not going to sit here and wait" she mumbled as she began to pound on the door, making dents in the metal as small hinges began to break loose. "whoa whoa whoa!!" yelled the pilot getting up and trying to restrain the turian. "calm down" he spat before being knocked back. as a hinge flew out slightly opening the door.
in the med-bay, halon continued to slip in and out of consciousness, both times trying to speak. and trying to ask for pain meds to help his headache and aching body. finally to a point where the headache increased and all he could do was scream inside his helmet, which he was unaware shut off to conserve what little power the components had left, no one but him could here what he was yelling or saying. he gripped the nearest thing he could, but he could not tell weather it was an arm or a piece of equipment. "make it stop..."
back in at the shuttle the turian had nearly broken all the hinges and parts keeping the door shut, with a huff and lots of cringed teeth the turian pried it open and stepped out, looking to the asari but said nothing. "listen!" yelled the pilot. "i agreed to help an agent, not a child!"
Ciathali caught Halon’s hand as the sedatives took effect, and - surprisingly gently, given her brusque manner - laid it down on the biobed, all while her other hand was still guiding a trio of robotic arms, methodically slicing the human’s damaged armour away.
“What is that noise?” she muttered idly, as the pounding from below decks intensified, then ceased.
”Your patient’s buddies were pretty insistent on visiting him up there," Tahlia replied over comms.
“Would you like Miss T’Rata’s assistance?” the surgeon asked, glancing at Lysia.
”Nah, they’re sedated. Kinda cute, all slouched over one another and snoring.”
“Small mercies. Monitor our other guests’ vitals, would you please?” she asked Pennant. “I don’t anticipate any adverse reactions to our sedatives, but one ought not be complacent. And if you'd begin preparatory scans on Mr Vorano, and Rahilan when she arrives? I'm afraid this gentleman is going to be occupying me for a time.”
One deck below, Rahi steered herself and Nyxeya into the bay, and clambered out as the cargo doors were closing behind them.
“Won’t miss that planet,” she grouched, before noticing the beached shuttle. “Huh. Did we do that to the shuttle hatch, or...?”
"They busted out," Tahlia said airily. "Twice."
“I'll tell you all about it,” Saphne said, approaching from the elevator. Behind them the drones were returning to their bays, and the mechs had begun unloading the crates, stowing them under Tahlia’s direction. “Ma’am,” the first officer added to Nyxeya, while she brushed off Rahi's insistence that she was okay and slid an arm around her for support, “all accounted for, ready to depart.”
Nyxeya was glad when the Forerider entered the hangar bay eventually. She climbed out an looked around, shaking her head, turning to Saphne.
"Alright, then hit the, straight to Trategos. I need to prepare a report for the Matriarch. What's the statuis on Halon and Vorano?" She probably should look after them first, while accompanying Rahilan to the medbay as well. "Come on, this is over now."
Saphne gave a quick glance to Rahi for form’s sake - regardless of Nyxeya having mission authority, and far and away the most experience, Rahi was still the ship’s commander - but of course the young pilot gave a quick nod without hesitation, confirming the commando’s order.
“Ela,” Saphne signalled over comms, “we’re go for orbit and break. I’ll be up shortly.” She cut the signal just as the elevator doors opened again, replacing the utilitarian confines of the cargo deck with the stark white of medbay.
“Cia’ has the human in surgery,” she reported to Nyxeya. “He’ll recover but there’s a lot of work to do, was her last report before starting.” The surgical bay, isolated from the remainder of medlab by atmospheric fields that blurred the occupants, was in view now, with Ciathali’s indistinct form moving busily within. “Vorano’s non-critical - no complications arising?” she asked the krogan out of politeness, as they neared him, and she helped Rahi onto a spare biobed. She gave Pennant a wary glance as he approached and began to run detailed scans, but kept her place in silence. Meanwhile the dim murmur of rushing air beyond the hull fell away, and the almost-inaudible background of the engines, which experienced spacers grew to recognise, shifted to a different key - they were in space again, leaving the planet behind.
Vorano sat in complete silence as he watched Ciathali worked over the human's sedated form, the field blurring the occupants causing his eyes to twitch with mild irritation. He did not look away from the surgeon or her patient, even as the commando, ship commander and the other doctor approached, not even glancing their way until he was addressed. He gave a quick, curt nod in affirmative to them and lightly ran a hand over his side.
"No complications have arisen to my knowledge. I just won't heal from it as quickly as normal. Of course...I don't think I'd be able to tell on my own. I have felt nothing on this side," he indicated to the large patch of scar tissue with a thumb, "Since a Thresher gave me this." The krogan looked away from the asari and gave a soft snort of disapproval for letting that much slip about his injury. It was a weakness and a strength, to feel no pain, even in an isolated region. "Maybe I'll share that story another time. For now, I'll be fine."
