Giving her a quick glance the human's body lightly tensed up from her touch but soon relaxed. "Not...so much for the benefits, when I got out of high school I tried to join the Alliance, let's just say most recruiters slammed the door on me, Cerberus however saw potential and welcomed me with open arms." He explained to her. At the time he didn't really think much about the ideology of Cerberus or all the bad rumors surrounding the pro human organization. He needed a path to follow and Cerberus gave him that direction, gave him opportunities, a chance to serve and protect humanity. Pretty much all that he wanted, the few years he spent serving them were great, until this war started and all his friends and comrades got transformed into slaves.

"And why didn't the Alliance choose you but Cerberus did? Isn't Cerberus supposed to be stronger than the Alliance, at least skill wise? Don't they want to best of humanity?" She questioned constantly, probably hitting more than one sensitive sensitive point with the volley of questions. "I mean, trust me, if any one knows anything about not being accepted by a military regime," she began, flashing a little blue aura around her hand, "it's me." She said with a small chuckle. Some flashes of her work with the Cabals came back when she did that, taking a deep breath in and a moment to think about the past.

Her questions were like a volley of bombs against him, it caused him to quickly think back to his own past. "Cerberus is defiantly smaller then the Alliance, but we still have monumental funding, supplies, scientist, bases, fleets and soldiers, most of the Alliance recruiters I talked to always had something negative to say, I'm too short, not strong enough, military life wouldn't suit you." Daniel shrugs thinking back to those days. "I think Cerberus saw potential in me simply because I would be loyal to their cause, like a lost dog kicked away from everyone else then they swoop in to give me a home, a family, a chance to thrive, or it could be a numbers game, the more soldiers Cerberus has the better, didn't matter who just as long as they did as they were told." That question has plagued him for years, if Cerberus ever saw anything in him, or did they just need another body to take a post, stand in line and fight to the last breath. "I...don't think I'm anywhere close to being the best from humanity, I'm hardly a front line soldier, just a tech engineer who hides behind a turret." The human started to doubt himself, his eyes glance at the sudden blue aura from the Turian. He made the same motion with his own hand except nothing came from it. "A biotic Turian...not many of you out there."

She let her mandibles open into something reminiscent of an empathetic smirk. The hand that was resting on his shoulder fell down and propped her up, her hand behind his back now. "Yeah, kind of an oddity..." She said, looking deep in thought as she watched the blue aura around her own hand. She fell silent for a while, simply playing with the biotics around her hand. It wasn't until Daniel's omni-tool started beeping that she snapped back to the real world. She looked down at it, then, at him, then away again. "Yeah, so if could get me that dextro mushroom soup, I'd be thankful. And remember..." She said, looking at her own sleeping bag. "... Door on the far left, you're bunking with me." She reminded, sniffing and coughing into her arm away from Daniel, but it almost appeared fake.

As the two fell silent Daniel started to fall into his own thoughts as well. Thinking about stuff mostly from the past, his family, friends, lover, but all that was gone now. It was a waste of time to think about that stuff now, what he should be thinking about is how to survive until the next day. Just like her the human snapped out from his thoughts as the timer beeped. Tapping the tool to shut it off he glances back at the alien. Nodding he stood up before taking the Cerberus weapon off his hip before laying down next to her. "Got it." He nods taking down that mental note, strange on how he would be bunking with her, she seems like the leader around here, and most leaders bunk alone while the grunts bunk somewhere else. Giving her one final glance as she 'coughs' the soldier moves over towards the door to leave the room. Moving out into the hall Daniel figures just to follow everyone else to the food line, should be simple enough to find.

As soon as Daniel left the room, she let out a low groaning noise, rubbing her face in her hands. She looked next to her to see the Cerberus weapon. She checked if there was a thermal clip inside, unloading it if there was and placing it by his other stuff. She then sits back down on her makeshift bunk. Then her own omni-tool blinked to life, coming in with some kind of news report. She only skimmed it at first, then her eyes widened as she continued to read, now ravishing through the entire report.

The human stayed quiet as he moved through the line to get food. He tries to ignore the other survivors looking over at him, it was like being the new kid at a school. Minding his own business he just stays with his own thoughts, probably tomorrow he'll unload the supplies from his shuttle, the extra thermal clips and medi-gel should help these people greatly. The man snapped out of his thinking when he got up to the front of the line. "Bowl of...dextro stuff." He mumbles out seeming slightly detached and tired. Taking the bowl from the server he gives them a nod before exiting the line. As he walked he looked at all the others who waited to get food, makes him wonder how much food supplies they have to support all these people. Following her directions the soldier moved down the corridor back to her room. Not even knocking on the door he opened it up and stepped inside with a bowl in his hand. "Here." Daniel says lightly reaching over to give the Turian her food.

Cali was still deep in her reading of little news clippings on her omni-tool when Daniel walked in, bowl in hand. She didn't do so much as look up at him when he spoke, talons tapping on her omni-tool. Eventually, she did look up and see him there, staring down at her most likely. "O-oh, sorry, thank you." She said, taking the bowl from him. "Did you get yourself a bowl? Of the levo variety, of course." She said, stirring around the bowl after her omni-tool dissipated. "I mean, you are hungry, aren't you?" She asked, crossing one leg over the other. Her omni-tool blipped again, but she ignored it, looking up at Daniel with a curious look on her face.

He noticed how spaced out she was, following her gaze he looked down towards her omni-tool before his eyes shot back up to her when she snapped back to reality. Daniel simply nods in response as he gives her the bowl, moving over he goes to sit next to her. "You people need food more then I do, I'll be fine." He tells her while leaning back slightly. Reaching into his front pocket the human pulls out a small container, it was white with the Cerberus insignia on it, it reads 'Combat Ration Pack' it was basically a nutrient paste, below the words it had all the info like serving size, calories and all the rest of the nutritional information. Popping open the cap the paste was plain white, it looked like it had no flavor. Daniel took notice of her beeping omni-tool before he spoke. "Something wrong?" He asked while squirting some of the paste into his mouth.

She couldn't help but to cringe and shake her head in disgust as the paste pushed its way out the tube. She set the bowl to the side and looked at her omni-tool again. "Not wrong, necessarily." She said, scanning through it. "Reports are coming in that a Reaper was killed on Tuchanka a few days ago. The kicker? It was a thresher maw that took it down." She said, looking back up at him. "Reports say it was done by no other than Commander Sheppard, the same one that took down the Collectors not too long ago." She said, picking up her bowl again. "It... Gives me an idea." She admitted, started to eat some of the soup. "There used to be this large monorail system that ran through Nos Astra. It ran on a gravity field below it that kept it on the track. But if we can manipulate that field..." She admitted, looking down again. "... We could strangle a Reaper down, possibly destroy it. It could be a huge risk though, and it looks like the mysterious Crucible is almost done, so it might be best to just bunker down and wait." She said, scratching her chin in thought. "But... I don't know, it's crazy, and it'd only take out one when there's plenty more..." She said with a sigh and a shrug.

Gulping down the flavorless paste Danial looks back at her as he listens. "Or we recruit an army of thresher maws to defeat the Reapers." He jokes while wiping his mouth. "Seems like Shepard is still alive and kicking, if anyone can win this war it's the Commander." It's no secret that Shepard was part of Cerberus, the extranet went wild with rumors after reports of the Commander alive and well going around the galaxy to stop the collectors in a Cerberus ship. Now it seems the galaxy's only hope lays on that one soldier. "We ourselves cannot win this war, this planet is lost, all we can do is survive and hope that the rest of the galaxy can pull through, taking down a single Reaper it's damn near impossible, the Alliance had to use an entire fleet to take down Sovereign, manipulating gravity like that to bring down a Reaper...that's a lot of power..I don't know." He gives her a glance before taking another gulp of the nutrient paste.

Cali let out a sigh before placing the bowl to her side and rubbing her face once more. Daniel was right, and she couldn't deny the truth. "Yeah... Yeah, you're right..." She whispered, sniffing and trying to guard her face, but her body jerked occasionally and the noises she produced made it clear she was crying. "I try so hard..." She whispered, coughing some after every sniff. "And all for nothing, we're hopeless..." She continued to cry softly, trying to hold it back but not being able to. After a big sniff, she made her back straight and staggered a sigh, shaking her head. "Sorry, I shouldn't be like this. I'm supposed to be a leader, damn it." She argued, now looking frustrated with herself. Because of her anatomy, her face was a runny mess of mucus and tears, rubbing it off on her sleaves. "Gah, okay... I'll be okay..." She whispered, slowly picking up her bowl of soup, the emotions ranging through her caused her hand to shake.

Putting down the nutrient paste tube Daniel leaned over slightly trying to get a look at her. At first the human seemed unaware of her running emotions, he rubbed the back of his neck in the awkward silence before he realized the Turian was crying. He sat there not really knowing what to do or say as Cali doubted herself. Of all the times in his life where he just stayed back and kept silent this seems like a moment where he needed to do or say something, anything. Scooting close to the alien Daniel reaches to take the bowl from her hand before setting it aside. The bowl was quickly replaced by his hand, the human hand held onto her own to keep it from shaking. "Hey uh...don't sell yourself sort, with the enemy we're facing it takes a good leader to keep people safe, even the best leaders through history had doubts about themselves." He tries to find the right words to say, cheering up others wasn't exactly a skill of his. "But...so far no Reapers have stepped into this place so...there's that." Daniel tried to shed some light on the positive things. The man leaned over to be somewhat in the alien's peripheral view.

Cali looked down at Daniel's hand, then up at him. She couldn't help but smile at his awkward attempt of cheering her up. After rubbing her face on her sleeve again, she nodded her head and looked down at his hand again. "Yeah, yeah that's true..." She whispered, staring blankly at his hand for a second before using her free hand to grab onto it, grasping it in both hands. "You're such a... An enigma, Daniel." She whispered, her eyes tracing from his hand up to his eyes, smiling at him. "Hardly any emotion, yet still sympathetic..." She admired, placing his hand onto her thigh very slowly and gently pressing it there. She then gingerly touched her forehead. She stayed like that for a second before chuckling. "In turian-to-human terms right now, we're pretty much kissing." She admitted embarrassingly, pulling away and releasing his hand. She sat up straight again and fixed her posture. "S-sorry, been a while since I've had a moment like that."

The human looked back at her, the expression on his face emotionless but she could tell he was trying to offer sympathy. His eyes glance down to their joined hands, Daniel's fingers lightly ran along her talons ever so softly. He hid his emotions well, but deep down he could feel his heart start to thump harder in his chest, like he was going into battle, only one other time in his life has something like this happened, when he was alone with someone else and his heart was trying to tell him something with each beat, but he never understood why, what his body or emotions were telling him. His eyes watch her move his hand onto her body, he didn't object but was curious what this physical display meant. Eyes locked with her Daniel offered his free hand to move up to her face, his bare fingers curiously touching the alien's left mandible. When she points out that the two were practically kissing the medical VI on his omni-tool lights up. Warning, heart rate jump detected, user please comply. The robotic voice spoke as the Turian stood up. Daniel quickly shuts off the VI alert before looking back towards the Cabal. "It's fine.." He clears his throat before continuing. "Positive emotions are hard to find nowadays." Ain't that the truth, with a galaxy fully under attack and millions probably dying everyday, finding some of the more light tender emotions and moments are hard to come by.
