The Mesa Gen Fitness Centre was somewhat sparsely populated just now, but that was to be expected - those with regular office jobs were busy at work, which left just those with more flexible hours to enjoy having the centre to themselves between the early morning pre-work rush and the post-work afternoon cooldown crowd. Daia, with time between clients, was taking the opportunity to get to grips with one of the centre’s new omni-trainers, a complex system of mass effect weights and resistance fields and good old-fashioned physical hardware which she had never gotten around to trying out until now. The Dusk Oasis had ordered one of the same model for the employee rec area, and with the rumour being that Mystery Sparks was toying with the notion of an exercise-themed segment for the agency’s From Illium With Love channel, Daia had it in mind to get fully acquainted with the system, in case the opportunity arose to do something fun with it for the cameras. Typically, she was enjoying the occasional lingering glances she noticed from other fitness enthusiasts - her two-piece workout ensemble wasn’t what one would call modest - but for the most part she was focused on exploring the range of exercises the machine offered, and not paying attention to her surroundings.

Waddling in with a relatively large bag of gear, Druss quietly grumbled to herself about not getting a discount here. She had recently left the Citadel for Nos Astra, in hopes of finding something more profitable than security guard work, and, in an attempt to boost her spectre goal. With both those in mind, she figured finding a local gym was a good idea, and this one *seemed* to fit the bill. It certainly looked volus-freindly, what with their mascot of choice, and her species not being known as fitness enthusiasts.
Still, the place looked to be well worth the cost, and there seemed to be a distinct lack of macho gym hogs, always a plus for her. Waddling to one of the machines in a more secluded section, and unpacking her items, stretching as much as she could in the suit. Once she was done, she'd put the bag back on, stepping onto the treadmill next to her. Casually glancing around as the machine came to life, Druss put on some music, the suit thankfully keeping the noise of turian metal inside it.

Daia glanced over at the sound of the treadmill starting up, noting a volus on it. It was an odd little irony that the volus-themed centre didn’t see many volus customers - even before the war, the volus who had first populated Mesa Gen and founded many of its local businesses had moved on decades ago to more prestigious offices in the city centre; a lot of the old office towers had been taken up by Alliance corporations, giving the place a sizeable human representation. All that had been upturned by the war, of course; the neighbourhood seemed largely asari now, with a dash of turian. And others from elsewhere in the city - Daia had noted she wasn’t the only one now living some distance away who had returned to the Mesa Gen centre out of loyalty to its previous incarnation.
Something about the volus stuck in her mind, and she craned her neck to get a right-way-up look at her - she guessed a female, from certain telltales of the suit - from her current position, doing inverted leg extension. It was the suit, in fact - where had she...?
“Pardon me?” she asked, never one to stay shyly quiet. “Sorry to intrude, but have we met? I have the oddest feeling I’ve seen your suit before - not here, somewhere else in the city. I'm Daia, if that helps.”

Looking over as she opened her omni-tool, pausing her music, her first thought was 'Oh, a porn star is talking to me.' Her second thought was much like the first, albeit in a far more panicked mindset. Recognizing her, Druss looks back over at the treadmill then back at her, then does that again, before finally responding. "*hssk* Druss Jorkakt?" Soon after, her thoughts went something like this 'Oh shit, ok keep calm. You just happened to- wait is this place full of porn stars? What's she doing at a gym like this? Why the fuck did she walk up to you?!' "*hssk* I've only visited once before." Slowing the treadmill down so she could carry on the conversation, Druss looked behind her to see if anyone else was looking at her, thinking maybe she had something stuck on her suit and the thessia-clan was just trying to politely let her know.

“Druss Jorkakt,” Daia mused - she handled the volus syllables well, better than most non-volus bothered. She swung herself upright and perched on her machine’s bench, thoughtful.
“Apricity, perhaps?” she wondered. “It’s a nightclub - were you ever there? Oceanic Tower in Nos Varda district.”

"*hssk* Yes, awhile ago." Thinking to herself as she put together the information before her: 'Why is she asking about- KIANNA! She's with them! ASSASSIN! AAAA- wait, where's the weapon? Oh gods, she's not going to try to punch me to death is she? First I fight a dominatrix, then meet a collector and now fight a porn star, life is turning into a Blasto vid. Well, would-be maybe-assassin, why might you be talking to me.' Still, the workout was giving her enough adrenaline (or the volus equivalent) to muster a response. "*hssk* I take it the thessia-clan saw me there? I was uhh, just there on business. *hssk* Not that I would- *hssk* Eh, I'm not the kind of person who hires escorts." Perhaps there was some social stigma for volus when it came to that, or perhaps Druss was simply trying to look 'cool' in front of her.

“That would’ve been it, yeah,” Daia agreed. “We didn’t get introduced, I think I just saw you that night - your suit must’ve stuck in my memory. Quite heavy-duty,” she grinned. “You should come back some time, just for fun - there’s lots more than escorts. The cabaret’s great, and the restaurant - they do volus cuisine, I’m told it’s very good. If you’ve got time of course. Are you here on business again, or holiday...?”

"*hssk* Moved here, actually, old job didn't pay enough, moved here to do body guard work.*hssk* And about the club actually-" Another thought hit her. She was pretty sure she was banned from the club, should she tell this asari? "*hssk* I was thinking of going back, yeah. *hssk* Didn't think a nightclub would have food anywhere close to 'good', heh." Figuring she *possibly* wasn't an assassin, Druss kept on with the idle chit-chat, making a mental note to find out what a 'cabaret' was later.

“Ah, I see.” If the notion of a volus bodyguard seemed odd to Daia, she didn’t show it. “Well that’s the thing about Apricity, it’s not just one kind of experience - there’s the nightclub of course, the music and dancing, usually late evening, but we do different things at different times, the kitchen’s very good, and for lunch and dinner the club runs as a restaurant. Besides, employees get food from the kitchen as well,” she added with a grin. “The quality’s very much appreciated.”
While she spoke she got back to exercising, almost absent-mindedly setting up a vertical pole and working her way up to run through a few leg positions; she continued to chat amiably, as if being suspended upside-down from a thigh-hold was perfectly normal.
“Is it your first time here?” she asked. “The gym, I mean. It’s a great centre - the management is the same as they were pre-war for the most part, I’ve been a member for decades.”

"*hssk* Yeah, is it usually this busy? Or, well . . . *hssk* decades? Oh yeah. Long life." Tapping on her omni-tool, the treadmill picked up speed, now just below a sprinting pace for a volus, her speech now laced with the rush of energy she was feeling. "*hssk* So, do you work there? I mean, you sound like you do-!" getting off balance for a half second, Druss quickly recovered, doing a breif head dance to celebrate the minor victory over gravity.

“Often busier,” Daia said idly. “The big rushes are before and after the standard day work shift - it’s not so full that you just can’t get in, but if you’re after a particular facility then, best to book ahead. Or take advantage of flexible working hours to avoid the crowd, if you can.” She stretched into a sideways handstand from the top of the pole - flickers of blue in the air keeping gravity from intervening - then flipped back into a slow spiral.
“Mm-hm,” she nodded. “Actually the Dusk Oasis, the escort agency on the top floors, but it’s all the same business - a lot of us flip between the agency and club. Keeps things fresh, attracts new customers... to be honest, I like stage work for its own sake too.” She looked Druss over. “Are you joined up with a security firm here, or are you going solo? With the bodyguard work, I mean.”

"*hssk* Flying solo for now, but I might join up with a company if things are running too slow." Looking over as the treadmill slowed down to a a running pace, Druss watched the biotic light show. "*hssk* So, you use biotics in those shows? I heard that stuff gives you headaches. *hssk* Guess you're used to using those though. *hssk* Is all the equipment here multi-species or is there vol only ones? *hssk* You said there's not many here, right?"

“Yep. Plus I’m not really doing anything that exhausting,” Daia said, adjusting her legs’ grip on the pole. “Light shows for the most part - usually the heaviest lifting I do is myself, or a bit of cushioning for others - so it’s not even in the same league as what a huntress can do.” She grinned impishly. “To be honest I’m probably a bit weaker - in raw power output - than even the average asari. I’ve always practiced control and precision, rather than sheer strength. It does take a lot of practice, maintaining your focus, but it’s not so physically exhausting. Besides which,” she tapped the back of her neck, where the ridges of her scalp began, where most asari had their bio-amp ports, “Armali Council - always helps.”
She flipped down to the floor, and began some cool-down stretches.
“Did I? Not a lot, no,” she admitted. “The old centre had an Irune atmosphere chamber, but they haven’t added one here yet, which is a shame - but most of the big Protectorate corporations set up their new offices near the Exchange, so all the vol-clan specific facilities are around there. All the equipment here’s configurable though, so everyone’s welcome.” She glanced over at the ranks of exercise machines, and grinned. “The Mark 10 cross-trainer actually has a profile for yahg, even. Don’t ask me what that means in terms of exercise, I’ve never tried it - I suspect the programmer was having a bit of fun.”

"*hssk* Hey isn't Armali stuff like, super expensive? How much do you make from uhh, dancing anyhow? *hssk* I mean that and the acting I guess." Seems Druss was aware of Daia's film work.
Continuing with her run, Druss listened to Daia as she checked how far it was to the end of the programmed run. "*hssk* Wait- a yahg? They have those here?" Dispensing with the homeworld clan names as she had no idea where they called home, Druss was both worried and intrigued by the statement.

“No,” Daia laughed, “I’m sure I’d have heard if there were yahg around - it’s probably whoever made the machine having a bit of a laugh while they were setting it up.”
She nodded readily at Druss’s question about her amp, but shrugged.
“They don’t come cheap,” she agreed, “but it’s worth it. You don’t cut corners on your exo-suit, right? Granted an amp’s not a matter of survival - not for me anyway - but the utility aspect is the same: there’s not a day goes by I don’t use biotics for something or other, and the Prodigy makes it better. Maybe twenty, thirty times a day, every day. That’s worth saving up for. Besides, you wouldn’t believe what you can make as an escort, if you commit and excel. The dance and film work, that’s kind of more like advertising, from my point of view.” She grinned impishly. "Also I have certain exhibitionistic tendencies, so, that's handy too."
