The recon drone was whirring and beeping softly, the various shells and holographic elements turning and twisting as it sent its invisible rays here and there as it moved down the corridor. 3D data of the surrounding, radiation, temperatures, chemical analysis… and some strange encrypted radio signals.
It was closing in on Halon’s position, it would definitely indentify a humanoid being, most likely pick up energy readings from the suit as well, sending it back to Rahi's omnitool.

Vorano moved to the front of the group, his eyes catching sight of a pistol on the ground. Leaning down, he picked it up and handed it off to Nyx. It hadn't been here long enough to have been left behind by the old owners, not in the room long enough to gather much dust. "Someone was here, recently by the looks of this. They may be close by." He turned away from the commando and loaded in one of his submission nets. He raised his hand to touch a button on the side of his helmet, light flashing across his visor as he activated the night vision setting. Then he lifted his Revnant and proceeded to the darkened corridor, leaning against the wall to poke his head out and look down the hall.
After a long minute of staring down the corridor, he shifted into the hall, proceeding down the corridor without waiting for orders, checking door switches along the wall, whether they visibly had power or not to make sure no one could jump him from behind. "I had a feeling there was going to be trouble. Looks like I wasn't wrong."

Rahi frowned at the gun in Vorano’s hand, feeling her shoulders tense, and drew her own sidearm, although she kept it pointed down. The krogan was certainly right, that hadn’t been left a long time - and while a pirate or merc might be incautious enough to leave their weapon lying around in a ‘secure’ location while they went elsewhere, even the most lacklustre outfit would do an inventory check before moving out of a base. The owner would still be here, somewhere.
“Contact,” she announced automatically over the squad’s secure comms, as the drone readings came in. “Sparrow three. Probable lifesign and active tech, relaying on tac channel two. Ma’am,” she added to Nyx, “possible comms chatter as well. Vanguard is in full stealth and performing recon on orbital space.”

Nyxeya too the gun and looked it over. Regular model, widely used. Nothing that gave the origin away but it looked new and taken care of, heatsink was at full capacity so it hadn’t been used. The place didn’t show any signs of a shooting. Seriously, who’d lose a gun here?
Then Vorano took the initiative and started to move out, right behind the drone. Dammit, that krogan. Hadn’t she been clear with orders? “HEY! Vorano.” She yelled into her mic. “No soloing, you take cover right where you are!” Who the fuck knew what was hiding in those tunnels? She ushered Rahi into cover with her, just behind the left side of the corridor entry.
She looked at Lysia. “Backup position at the other side.” Nyx nodded at the opposite wall to the right of the corridor.
Her orders were interrupted by Rahi’s exclamation. “Careful everyone! Rahi, do we know how many?” she was only whispering now. It was something that happened out of reflex since the radio signal didn’t care how loud or low someone spoke. She flared up her biotics in readiness, her right hand gripping her pistol. She peered around the corner but it was only darkness and weird shadows in the corridor, despite an enhanced picture besides the back of Vorano and the drone further down, she wasn’t able to identify anything.

"V, what the hell? Isn't he supposed to be pulling up the ass not going up it?" Lysia commented on Vorano's actions. Of course, she quieted herself quickly after that. Nyx was in charge, not her. She didn't get to yell at anyone. Well, not unless they got split up--junior lieutenant meant she got to yell at everyone else if Nyx wasn't able to. Lysia gave a nod to Nyx. Then crept along the corridor to take the right side. Once she was in position she formed an annihilation field. If they needed to drop on someone, Lysia was ready to tag the enemies and fast. Between herself and Nyx most things went down quickly if their previous missions in the field were any indication.

“Reading one only,” Rahi replied to Nyx, watching Vorano’s silhouette in the darkened corridor worriedly. A comment from one of the commandos she had flown with during the war came back to her: “Krogan lead from the front - whether you want ‘em to or not.”
She hung back behind Nyx and Lysia, keeping her back to the wall, and launching a single hawk tasked to support their advance. Between monitoring their sensors she kept her eyes on the approach behind them - it was unlikely anything could creep up behind them unawares, but it was even more unlikely the two commandos would be caught off guard by the known threat ahead, so wherever they weren’t already looking was where she could do the most good.

Geth, as a rule, we're not ones for subltey. Pennant, as a rule, did not have the firmest grasp of tactics. So when Pennant decloaked next to his newfound human friend, his big flashlight eye lit up the corridor, painting the geth's location nicely for all to see. Oblivious to this, the slightly-damaged medic pressed a plasma shotgun into the humans hands and drew out a plasma pistol for itself. "Sensors detect several life forms, primarily Asari, though one krogan is present." At least he had the common sense to lower his voice as he spoke. He didn't have the common sense to not create a freaking turret in the middle of the hallway, a turret that, upon detecting the approaching krogan, let lose with twin gouts of skin-searing flame. Someone was going to need a lesson on tactics when this was all over.

Vorano cast a glance back at the three asari without a word, holding his position midway down the corridor. At the sound of "Contact" he had dropped to his knee and pulled a flash stunner from his harness. When Rahi announced there was only one reading, he waited to see if it would emerge "Can you identify the species, Rahi?" While he was waiting for her reply, he saw the geth decloak, able to see the full machine with his night vision visor. He recognized the platform immediately, though it had visible additions to its frame. "Geth Hunter. Deploying Flash stunner." He announced on their secure channel to give the team time to avert their gaze, polarizing his visor before activating the device and rolling it down the hall.
When the device reached the end of the hall, it emitted a retina searingly bright flash of light, blinding any organic target and overloading the visual receptors of any machine caught looking in its direction. With the much dulled flash fading out, he depolarized his visor and fired the submission net he had readied before starting down the hall. The electrified net sailed through the air, homing in on the nearest target while electricity arched off of it to any nearby targets. Moments later, a gout of flame shot up the hall, illuminating the team. Though the flame fell just short of his position, it still made him dive out of its path, the krogan scrambling to his feet a meter or so further back in the hall.

Halon cursed under his breath hearing large clunky footsteps getting closer and lights emanating down the hall. When more w joined he stiffened up abit. But without warning as his geth friend uncloaked it caused him to jump a bit.
He didn't say a word fearing to reveal his position and didn't expect the weapon to be pushed into his hands, soon he realized the geths flash light head was a give away. When he told him about the hostiles he nodded and hugged the wall again.
"halon, don't go trusting anyone." Said the colonel butting into the comms. Halon ignored him, *ide rather avoid them* he muttered in his head. His attention snapped over towards the geth as he placed a turret and flames shot out to the enemies. "we need to hide" he said into the comm to his metallic friend. Lowering the weapon he heard more clanking. Small and a rolling sound followed. Glancing to the corner he saw what looked like a flash bang. "halon shield your eyes!" Yelled Naomi into his comm. But he was too slow as the device blinded him sending a white light into his retina. "damn" he mumbled stumbling back shaking his head. He hit the wall almost falling down as he blinked his eyes, His vision was somewhat restored only for him to see spots and see close in a small field of vision. Without hesitation he ran and stumbled deeper down the hall, turning his head back for a second in hoping the geth would follow.

Nyxeya rolled her eyes at Lysia. Krogans... stupid lizards! Lysia should know, since she was half lizard herself. "Yeah, that's what we said..." she was pressing between her teeth.
A nod towards Rahi acknowledged the recon data. But the krogan didn't seem to care, he even had the guts to simply ignore her command! "Dammit Vorano, that's an order, get you fat ass out of th...." She was interrupted by the decloaking geth. "Oh SHIT! What the fuck are geth doing here?" Then the hell broke lose with that hunter thing even planting a turret!
"And why are they attacking us!?" This was beyond fucking stupid but Nyx didn't have much time to think, it was time to act. Her barriers shielded her from the heat that came down the corridor but the commando still pressed herself to the wall around the corner. How fireproof where krogan? She hoped he had taken evasion into one of the offices located on both sides of the corridor.
Ah... no. It seemed as if he was going on the offensive even. Fuck this shit. She took a few shallow breaths and then peeked around the corner when the turret was pausing for a cooldown, catching a glimpse of a humanoid figure retreating quickly further into the darkness. There also was the huge form of Vorano, still alive obviously, but she couldn't see the geth anymore, he could be hiding on one of the adjoining rooms or be cloaked! Nyxeya hurled a warp towards the turret, the biotic effect making it tumble a bit as the forces were tearing and eating on its atomic structure, making it aim here and there in confusion.
Nxy retreated around the corner again, switching her intercom to "open channel". "Attention, whoever it is down there. This area is under control of the asari military! Surrender immediately and identify yourself!"
Switching back to "scrambler" she looked at Rahi. "How the fuck could you miss a geth? Are there more?"

“Must’ve been cloaked,” Rahi replied quickly, scowling at herself. How had she missed it? In fairness, there was an awful lot about geth cloaking technology that the Republics were yet to fully understand - and benign or no at present, the geth no doubt meant to keep it that way - but that didn’t stop her feeling burning shame at the oversight. She pushed self-recrimination aside; she had a job to do.
“Cloak-killers pulsing!” she reported. “No additional readings...” The hawk drones carried cloak disruptors - broad-wavelength dazzlers, designed to pulse both ends of the electromagnetic spectrum with chaotic sensor saturation, and force any cloak in the area to either drop, or give itself away by failing to compensate for one or other of the sudden emissions it was trying to counter. Of course, it made the hawk an easy target, but drones were expendable, if they did their job first. The artisans back on Epira rated their disruptors highly - but again, there were so many unknowns with geth tech...
“Foreign One is human,” she added as an afterthought, if Vorano still had any interest. “On the move, bearing three-oh - falling back. Moving sparrows to cover that angle.”

Lysia remained behind her cover for a few moments, stealing glances now and again. "FUCK!" she shouted as the turret was dropped. She saw Nyx fling a warp across the way and into the turret and took that as her own signal to charge. Storming forward, she readied her own warp until she got close enough to tag the spastically firing turret and threw the mass effect field at it, causing a biotic explosion that usually took out the smaller turrets and unshielded/armored soldiers. She used her modified punisher to fire at the turret and fill it with enough shots to render it useless before taking cover a little further up. "Turret Neutralized," she called over their secure channel.
She kept her eyes up ahead, not ready to move any further forward until given the clear.

"did they just say asari military?" Asked halon still running Down the desolate hall. "your ears don't deceive you, they did say that" replied naomi. Halon came to a halt to catch his breath. "i dont buy it, the weapons they had are not standard military and to top it off a krogan was with them. They cant be asari military."
peeking around the corner he looked around the room. "where's my new best pal?" He asked. "halon let me make this clear, he is an unknown factor in this operation. And given your history with geth, your to damn trusting." Said the colonel sternly. "colonel HE is the only one not trying to put a bullet in my ass. Besides our Intel was way off" he looked down the hall thinking he heard a noise. "what now?" He asked.
"same as before, you need to interrogate the enemies to find out what they know. And I have no doubt my in mind you cant pull it off" said the colonel with a slight chuckle. "come on, you think I wouldn't have this Job if I was bad at what I do?" replied halon. Now where to hide was the question aching in his head. Looking around he saw a few vent covers as well as many hidden nooks and cranny's. "this will work" he grinned.

Recovering from the flashbang but finding his cloak unresponsive, Pennant paused to calculate the possible outcomes. The attackers where obviously pirates, their claim of being Asari military rendered false by the presence of what was probably a krogan battlemaster. To its knowledge, Asari did not make a habit of using mercenaries. Still, if they where Asari they would have biotics, a force that geth as a whole had never trully adapted to. It's options where slim, and, as it hunkered deeper into cover, the machine decided that an application of opposing force would be the most useful in this case. Popping out of cover, he unloaded a barrage of fire from his plasma smg, prepping an overload/neural shock for the first person to show their face.
