Lysia followed along boredily unti Rahi started introducing some of the other Asari aboard. She'd smile at them and puff out her chest a little bit. Things wouldn't be so boring, it seemed. Not with pretty looking Asari board, not to mention any of the other species that came in feminine appearances. She hoped some of them would be intrigued by her green skin and she could come up with a fun lie to draw them in deeper.
Other than checking out the feminine forms moving around, she mostly zoned out, finding the conversation to be quite dull. She was here for the action and any action she could get along the way--well aside from any still standing legal obligations perhaps.

“You’re right about that Vorano,” Nyx replied to the krogan’s remark about the usefulness of such models in combat. “The Cerberus versions were an annoyance and took attention away. If one can afford to throw masses into a fight, it’s distracting.” And that, often enough, was what it could take to get an edge. She knew asari formations where experimenting with mechs a lot these days.
“Hey.” She greeted the logistics officer. “Just have enough heatsinks and a few grenades ready. Nothing too fancy for me.” She padded her Carnifex. Eventually, she also grabbed her bag, and waved the group to assemble.
She noted that Lysia was obviously posing and tried to walk tall… show off commando style to fleet-lings it seemed. She’d have to have eyes on her in more ways than one, this one meant trouble while the krogan seemed to be a real pro. Nyx was kinda curious about what kind of ops he must have seen. Maybe they could trade a story or two. Improving interspecies relations was what this program was here for after all. “Please, lead the way, Rahilan.”

“Of course,” Rahi nodded to Nyx, leading the way; Tahlia returned to whatever she had been up to amid the supplies, while Ciathali and Aesin evidently decided that a krogan counted for more than one towards the elevator’s maximum load and waited. There was a brief glimpse of a stark white corridor and the medbay beyond as the elevator rose past the frigate’s middle deck, and then it opened onto a briefing room, currently vacant, with one of the ubiquitous starship galaxy maps floating above the central table. A wide corridor led forward, lined either side with crew stations, and at its end two more asari were visible, one partially hidden in the pilot’s couch and cocooned in holographic displays, the other at the copilot station, relaxed and obviously letting the pilot handle everything on her own.
“Strike team quarters are aft, past crew,” Rahi explained, opening a doorway to the side of the elevator onto a common room. Alcoves either side contained bunks - the chamber’s lateral bulkhead seemed to be the informal division, the six bunks forward of it evidently claimed by the crew from the scattering of pictures and art on their interior walls, the personal pads on the slim shelves, and the neatly-made beds, while those aft were bare of personal touches, and their bedclothes were neatly folded at the foot of each bunk as if they had just been unpacked from storage half an hour ago. The alcoves were barely larger than needed to contain their bunks, but the shared common room made up for it, with a large table and lounges, several smaller desks and chairs, and a panoramic view of space through the reinforced crystoplast ceiling.
“Bathroom et cetera,” Rahi indicated a closed door at the rear of the chamber. “We - the crew that is - usually take meals here together so far as the duty roster permits, you’re all welcome to join us of course. The galley’s not what you’d call generously proportioned, but Tahlia has a knack for turning up better than average ingredients any time we make port.” She hesitated, glancing quickly at Vorano; the bunks would accommodate him - just - but obviously the ship’s designers hadn’t had private personal space greatly in mind, which suddenly seemed quite an oversight now that she recalled tales she had heard of krogan territorial instincts with regard to sharing a room.
“Uh, there are audiovisual filter fields over the bunks, if anyone wants privacy,” she added, trying to sound as if she was just providing useful information to everyone. “Um in any case, we'll be adjusting our daylight clock to match our destination.”

Vorano stepped inside the elevator with the rest of the team as Rahi spoke, memorizing the layout to different sections of the ship. When they arrived at the common rooms, he made note of its layout with a slight frown as Rahi pointed out the different features of the room and how the crew usually ate here. At least it had the audio-visual barriers around each bunk. That would be useful. He didn't care to have the rest of the team see or hear him in his sleep. He was a very active dreamer, and had a tendency to snore, loudly.
He glanced back at Rahi with a raised brow and tilted his head to the side "Is this the end, or is there more to this tour of the ship?" He asked, shifting his bag off his shoulder and into one hand as he asked the question. He wanted to claim a bunk and get that out of the way, but also wanted to see if there was much more to the ship that he needed to know about.

Nyx didn't care too much about ships. The navy was the guys that brought the commandos to do the real work after all. She didn't understand much about drive cores and all that either. But the Vanguard was a brand new ship and seemed pretty decent. She threw her bag onto a bunk and looked around. "Nice. Sure, I'd love to grab a bite. Give me a heads up when it's time, Rahilan."
She had to chuckle at the Vorano's reaction. This ship wasn't build for krogan and this setup must be less than comfortable for him. "We can set up a timetable for the shower," she suggested. "I had no idea you were interested in a ship's plumbing, Vorano, surprises, surprises." She sprawled on her bunk, arms behind her head, grinning.
"Everyone dismissed until three hours to ETA," she eventually announced.

“Yes Ma’am,” Rahi nodded to Nyx. Vorano seemed to throw her a bit for a loop.
“Uh, that’s, about it, yes,” she said, with a hesitant smile. “Most of B Deck is engineering, aside from medbay. I can have Aesin show you around, if you’re interested? We’ve never actually done a ‘tour’ before, this is our first time with passengers on board, apart from inspection personnel from the battlegroup back in the Reach who obviously knew it as well as us anyway...”
She nodded acknowledgement of Nyx’s order, and made a mental note to have all the briefing and background material the Matriarch had forwarded to them fully integrated with the ship’s intel database before then.

Lysia had been spending more time watching tits and asses than really paying much attention. When they came to the bunks, Lysia set down her things. It surprised her that until now she hadn't paid Rahi's form much attention. Maybe she'd been a little too hard, calling her a girl scout and disrupting the mission. Was it worth humbling herself and apologizing to everyone present to try to get into her cockpit though?
"Why don't you give us a tour? I mean, I know you have duties, but you know your way around the ship and I could listen to you all day." Lysia tried to look like she wasn't trying too hard to get the pilot's interest as she unloaded a few things and started organizing around her bunk. "Or maybe we could grab coffee later? I, no doubt, owe an apology or two to you. Maybe I could find a way to make it up?"

Vorana shrugged and nodded to Rahi. "Just checking." He said and turned around, claiming the bunk farthest from the entry way and set his bag down. After analyzing the space, he began setting his belongings out to organize himself, keeping things neatly separated and organized. He pulled his helmet off of his belt and set it down, then placed the Revenant on top of everything. He looked over the walls of the bunk's alcove for a moment, then pulled a few magnetic hooks from his bag, attached them to the wall and gave them a few light tugs. With them holding up firmly, he hooked the LMG on the wall, then his helmet above it. Detaching the pauldrons from his armor, he hung those up as well, to either side of the helmet, putting the painted Varen and Thresher Maw Skeleton on them on display. With that, he took a step back from the bunk and looked up at the display, then activated the audio visual barrier to change out of his armor into plain clothes.

“Um? Right, yes, I could. Okay?” Rahi’s words tripped over themselves somewhat as she mentally changed gears to deal with the unanticipated emergence of Nice Lysia. “Tour then, always a first time. If anyone else wants to come?” she offered, although Vorano seemed content for now, and Nyx seemed to have seen what she needed to. Rahi led the way back around the elevator block and through the briefing area, up into the command deck.
“We have a full complement of crew stations,” she said, as they walked between the twin rows of vacant seats. “Battle stations would put five of us up here - conn, astro, tactical, Tahlia at electronic warfare coordination, and Ciathali is trained for communications; Aesin would remain at her usual engineering station, of course. The remaining stations are VI-crewed, with the new battle systems from the Talith Programme, although naturally for a naval warfare deployment we’d have the option of taking on extra crew beforehand for manual operation. The elcor-derived VIs are very effective though. Even at ready crew, with just myself, astro, and tac, we rate 86% combat power.”
The huntress in the copilot couch stood as they approached, shoulders straight.
“Saphne T’Ren, my astrogator and second,” Rahi introduced her; with her pale blue skin and white markings, the young woman’s bright cyan eyes stood out intensely. “And Ela Parris, tactical, who’s gaining some helm experience of her own. Ladies, Lysia T’Rata.” The pilot-in-training withdrew some of the holographics around herself and glanced back to give the pair a nod. As professional as they all seemed, it couldn’t escape notice that the entire crew of Vanguard were as young as Rahi herself, and while she was no child, Ela looked to be one of those late bloomers who still seemed almost girlish.
“That was a smooth take-off,” Rahi complimented her.
“Thank you ma’am. I wondered if you could tell...”
“Only by nuances. May we have a look ahead?”
“Of course,” the tactical officer nodded, sweeping her hands apart as if parting curtains. The displays around her bloomed throughout the entire cockpit area, all of a sudden making it appear as if the deck they were standing on was completely open to space.
“These new panoptics systems make such a difference,” Rahi said to Lysia, gazing out into space. Even at the speed the ship’s gravity drive was propelling them, against the vast scale of the environment they would have seemed almost still had it not been for the holographic course line stretching out in front of them, with regular interval markers swooshing by every now and then. Behind them, looming around the edges of the rear corridor, the disc of Trategos hung in space, dazzling white bordered by a crescent of black as the night side slowly advanced. The handful of nearby ships - too distant to see by eye, but marked by glowing course lines, and each circled and linked to a zoomed-in visual hovering above its true position - were receding as they boosted away from the orbital lanes. Up ahead, the far-off blinking icon of the system’s mass relay.
“Thank you Ela. Carry on. You’ve seen the cargo bay,” Rahi went on, leading Lysia back towards the elevator, “so that just leaves B Deck. Here we go. So there’d medbay as you see,” she pointed out, as the doors opened again; Ciathali had made her way back there, visible through the clear walls, and was making adjustments to a scanner array. “Medbay’s directly below the command deck - see there?” She indicated the medbay ceiling, which was patterned with the edges of retracting hatchways. “Every command station can be dropped directly down here, if the operator is injured too severely to carry on, while the station functions get routed to another seat. A last-resort kind of arrangement, but it’s proven in simulations, so better to have that not. Now let’s have a look at the drive core first, it’s round this way...”
Rahi continued pointing out all the features of her ship - the reinforced coaxial core, the gravity turbines of the drive system, the customised mechs tied to the ship’s systems serving as extra pairs of hands for Aesin, who was also back at her regular master engineering station by now, the miniature fabricator and refinery units, the arsenal of munitions. Whether out of a desire to put her initial sour reaction to Lysia firmly in the past, or just youthful enthusiasm mixed with pride at the brand new ship she had been entrusted with, she went into considerable detail, and it was some time before she finally finished, ending up in the forward compartment of B Deck, between the twin barrels of the retracted Thrasher main guns, ‘little sisters’, as she described them, of the Thanix cannons mounted on larger warships.

Lysia smiled as she went along, staying quite close to Rahi most of the time. The Disruptive Asari even managed to pay enough attention to ask a few minor questions regarding parts of the ship and crew. It seemed like Lysia was an entirely different person.
When Rahi introduced her, she smiled politely.
Her eyes widened when the deck seemed to open up into space. "If it weren't being used as the deck, this could be quite the Romantic spot..." she commented to Rahi, trying to drop subtle hints as the tour went on.
"I can imagine. It's too bad you can't bring a soldier down an elevator that they're strapped to when they get hurt to be sent right to the Medbay. But the logistics of something like that make it implausable on the ground. But here... not a bad idea at all..."
As the tour came to a close she maintained politeness and attentiveness toward Rahi. Well, except for a rude comment she made about the 'little sisters,' but tripped over herself to apologize. Were she not so green a violet blush might have crept into her cheeks.
"Well, the ship is facinating, Rahi. And you're so knowledgeable about it. Though, maybe I could learn as much about you as you shared about this ship... over coffee or dinner in the mess...."

“Heh, um, yes,” Rahi blushed at Lysia’s observation on the panoptics. “Yes the command deck’s not really... well there’s always one of us on duty at least, for obvious reasons.” She hesitated a moment, then as they were walking back out of the helm area, added in a slightly conspiratorial tone: “My last ship but one was a Fleet Orison class, heavy shuttle. Except when there were passengers it was just me, so yes, sometimes I’d, hm. Relax, with the space view on. It was... nice.”
Lysia’s ongoing interest in her tour was obviously pleasing her; by the time they finally reached the cannon bay even the joke about the guns rolled right off her without giving her any pause. She glowed with pride at being called knowledgeable.
“A commando like you knows her weapons and suit like her own skin,” she noted, then waved a hand around airily. “This is our suit and guns, so...” She trailed off, surprised, at Lysia’s invitation. “A-bout me? I uh... If you’d like? Dinner will be soon, anyway. You’re fond of coffee? Tahlia has some in the cargo bay I’m sure. She’s got a little of everything down there, you never know what might come in handy.”

While they were still at Panoptics, "Maybe we can find a place where you can be on duty and I can accompany you while we watch the stars go by." Lysia had said.
"I guess you're right, though armor excluded, I only really have to know a very great deal about my biotics. I rely on them pretty heavily. My rifle is only a backup." She mentioned. "Of course about you. You're intelligent, I bet you're classy, you're the sort that knows how to take care of herself and anything else that is her duty." She shook her head at the mention of coffee. "Sorry, human expression. I really just thought I could spend time getting to know you--it'd be a real privilege that I don't deserve... maybe we can eat dinner away from the others so I can focus on you." The Green Asari glanced away as if blushing and smiled sheepishly back at her.
"And to make it more enticing... I'm sure you're wondering why I'm green...." she said. "If nothing else, spend time with me for that--but no recording devices or anything... I don't want everyone to know."

Nyxeya had eventually unpacked the necessities from her bag and stored them. Whatever she did not need, she’d keep in her bag to be ready for moving at a moment’s notice, old habits.
She gave the wet room a once over – nothing special but brand new and clean – thanks to tiny cleaning bots. Those frilly navy chicks would get sick over scrubbing latrines perhaps. They should be staying in some makeshift camp on some hot and humid jungle planet for some time. Where centipedes got longer than your arm and were going everywhere as if they owned the planet. Well, technically they usually did, but still…
Centipedes… thresher maws. Her eyes came to rest on Vorano’s gear, especially on the helmet. She wondered what kind of missions he had been through in his life. Had he fought maws maybe? Nyx had never seen one in real life, only in vids, which seemed horrible enough.
She settled into her bunk with a datapad with general info about Pania, the planet they were going to. A totally disgusting hothouse. She hated it already.
Her thought drifted back and forth, eventually she looked around. Now, where was Vorano? Or anyone really, the ship wasn’t that huge.

Vorano had been sitting on his bed, scanning through the details of the mission they were undertaking once more, wearing black civilian clothing and a black and silver visor/comm set hybrid, mumbling things under his breath as he scanned through the briefing a few times, then set the pad down and punched something into his Omni-tool. He took a deep breath and shook his head before he began speaking "Grim. Yeah, its Vorano. How is she?" He asked into the set. The reply made his shoulders sag slightly. "Keep an eye of her and find out who did it, so I can break his legs." He said, pulling the head set off and tossing it aside. He closes his eyes and leans foreward, placing his elbows on his knees as he begins thinking, going through the mission details again, and planning out potential maneuvers a Soldier and a couple of Biotic commandos could perform in the field to distract and prepare himself for the mission at hand.

“I uh... hm. I mean, thank you! That’s, I’d like, sure, get to know you, as well.” Whether she wasn’t that accustomed to compliments in general, or it was just the escalating mental swerve of her perception of the commando from ‘brash’ to ‘professionally interested’ to ‘personally interested’, Rahi definitely was in a state of some flusterment now; each attempt at a reply got interrupted by the next thought turning up two words later, until she finally gathered herself enough to at least give some sort of answer.
She raised an eyebrow at the mention of Lysia’s odd skin tone, and nodded.
“I had wondered,” she admitted sheepishly. “I thought, maybe, a cosmetic mod, one of the commandos in the unit I flew shuttles for on Epira during the war had her skin modded to an actual camo pattern which was... or not,” she finished, offering a bashful smile by way of apology at letting her mouth run on by itself. “Private, right. I get that. I don’t know if you’ve spent much time around us navy types? You can see how we’re all communal, but everyone needs some time alone with her thoughts every once in a while, we all understand that, so privacy’s not an issue. Not that there are actual private cabins hidden away anywhere,” she admitted, “it’s more a state of mind thing... I actually every now and then go sit in the Forerider down in the cargo bay, just to let my mind wander. Although, that’s kind of cramped, and, there isn’t exactly a table or anything...”
